paper was officially used as food packaging material in the industry at the beginning of the 20th century. Paper containers made of paper, aluminum foil and plastic composite materials appeared in the 1950s. Due to the development of aseptic packaging technology and packaging machinery, paper containers have developed rapidly since the 1970s. Paper and paper containers account for the largest proportion in the whole food packaging materials. In the United States, Western Europe and other economically developed countries, paper and paperboard account for 40 ~ 50% of the total packaging materials, of which more than 17% are used for food packaging. Paper containers have the advantages of light weight, low price and easy waste disposal, while the disadvantages are poor heat resistance and sealing. At present, the new paper containers developed can be used for paper cans for cooking and sterilization and paper shields for foldable transportation
basic materials the basic materials used in paper containers are: ① kraft paper is made from kraft pulp of cork coarse fiber. Its strength is higher than that of ordinary paper. It can be used as a large paper bag to pack sugar, flour and rice. Kraft paper treated with synthetic resin has the characteristics of moisture and oil resistance. ② Sulfuric acid paper is a kind of paper treated with sulfuric acid to form gelatinous starch cellulose on its fiber surface. It has the characteristics of high strength, moisture resistance, oil resistance and heat sterilization temperature. It can be used for the packaging of oily food and frozen food. Sometimes it can be used as the inner packaging paper lining of cans. ③ Wax paper, treated with low melting point paraffin, has the characteristics of moisture resistance, oil resistance and sealing resistance. It is the cheapest packaging material for all kinds of high and low-grade food. ④ Cellophane, also known as cellophane, is processed from pulp treated with sodium hydroxide solution. It has the characteristics of high transparency, good heat insulation, oil resistance, beauty and low price. It is widely used in the packaging of general food. However, ordinary cellophane has the disadvantage of strong hygroscopicity and is not suitable for food packaging with high water content. The moisture-proof cellophane treated with polyvinyl chloride copolymer and polyvinylidene chloride resin has excellent moisture resistance. ⑤ Composite paper is a laminated material of paper, plastic, aluminum foil, etc. with comprehensive performance, it can be used for packaging general food, frozen food, beverage and aseptic packaging
the main types of paper containers have various forms and different materials. For example, there are three main types of paper containers made of composite paper: ① four corner paper bags, brick paper bags and roof paper bags called milk boxes. Generally, it is made of polyethylene paper polyethylene aluminum foil polyethylene 5-layer composite paperboard, which can isolate water vapor and oxygen. It can be used for the packaging of liquid drinks such as milk and fruit juice. ② Paper cups and cartons made of paper and plastic composite materials. It is widely used in the packaging of frozen food and fast food, especially in the packaging of ice cream, such as paper cups and cartons made of polyethylene paper polyethylene. ③ Combined tank. The tank body is mostly made of composite cardboard, the inner wall is coated with resin, and the bottom cover is made of plastic or metal. Mainly used for dry food packaging. In addition, there are barrels made of hardened cardboard, which are used to pack dry powdered food, Cereals, etc. Exterior wall coatings are generally divided into 5 categories: ① iron printing primer. Colorless and transparent to enhance the adhesion between sheet and coating. It is divided into low-temperature primer (such as alkyd type) and high-temperature primer (such as epoxy amino type). ② Baikeding. It is a white paint covering the primer, which can cover the metal to facilitate the next ink printing. There are alkyd type, polyester type, acrylic type, etc. ③ Cover polish. It is used as the last process of iron printing outside the tank to protect the printing pattern and improve the gloss. Sub low temperature varnish, such as ester adhesive, epoxy ester, semi dry oleanolic acid amino, etc; High temperature varnish, such as coconut oil alkyd amino, oil-free alkyd amino, epoxy amino, acrylate, etc. The color ink used for printing patterns and trademarks belongs to iron printing ink. Usually, after the primer and white curcumin are printed, they are printed several times according to the requirements of pattern chromaticity, and finally coated with finishing oil. ④ Anti rust coating outside the tank. It is used for tank bottom, tank cover and tank body that does not require color printing to prevent rust and increase beauty. There are epoxy ester type, oil resin type, thermosetting epoxy type, etc. ⑤ Exterior wall joint coating
it is used to touch up the tin part of the can body to avoid rusting. The coating is required to be quick drying, which is usually cured by residual heat of solder, including epoxy polyamide type, polyolefin type, etc. The main types of metal containers for food packaging are classified according to their uses, mainly including food cans and beverage cans. In addition, there are sugar boxes, biscuit cans, tea cans, etc. (made of tinned sheet), as well as aluminum tubes, tin tubes, etc
